I love this song. I love this moment we were lucky enough to document. Not only is this one of the coolest songs i have heard in years,
you can see each musician completely slip into a unified effort to create the best version of this song they could give to the world… at that moment in time.
Drummer Eric Harland’s facial expression immediately tell’s us how he feels about Aaron Park’s brilliant composition. Aaron practically levitates off of his piano chair
as he sings along with each individual note he plays on the WBGO studio piano. If you don’t love this this tune then it’s quite possible you are an an alien. (not that there is anything wrong with being an alien, of course)

Hello,
thejazzindie.com – da best. Keep it going!
Saurooon
Just discovered this blog – it’s great! Thanks
Saw “Icons Among Us” at AFIFest. Was pleased to see and hear people who are new to me–the AFIFest blurb did not promise that! I tried hard to remember names during the film and scrawled them down as soon as the lights went up. In the Q&A afterwards Mr. Comerford said all the names would be on the website but I sure can’t find them. My scrawlees are Courtney Pine, Esperanza Spalding, Bob Glasper, Anat Cohen, and Aaron Parks. Hope you can add to the list and that some of them will play here in Los Angeles now that I know who they are!
